The Brazil Cerrado 1 project is a grouped Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) initiative implemented under the Verra VM0047 v1.0 methodology framework. Located in Mato Grosso del Sul, Brazil, the project covers 16,941 hectares of degraded agricultural land and will add another 8,611 hectares during its second monitoring period. NK 164 Empreendimentos e Participacoes S.A. (NKEP), the project proponent, was created as a subsidiary of TTG Brasil Investimentos Florestais Ltda. to manage industrial Eucalyptus plantations in the region and generate revenue from the sale of carbon credits. NKEP partnered with TerraCarbon, the project developer, to implement the project starting in 2022 with a crediting period of 20 years.
